New Hyundai Ioniq 2020

What’s going on?

Hyundai unveiled a new version of Hyundai Ioniq Electric on May 2nd. The production is planned for late 2019.

Full list of improvements:

  1. New 38.3 kWh battery pack
  2. 44% more range (up to 183 mi / 294 km WLTP)
  3. Refreshed interior and exterior
  4. More powerful 100 kW electric motor
  5. Upgraded 7.2 kW on-board charger
  6. Hyundai BlueLink app which allows drivers to remote control air conditioning and charging, lock or unlock the vehicle, beep the horn or flash the lights.
  7. New safety features, such as Front Collision Warning, Avoidance Assist with Pedestrian and Cyclist Detection ability, Driver Attention Warning, Lane Keeping Assist, High Beam Assist (standard). Optionally available are Lane Following Assist, Speed Limit Warning, Smart Cruise Control, Blind-Spot Collision Warning and Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning.

Expected price

Hyundai didn't announce pricing for the New Ioniq Electric, but we expect it to be priced at around $30,000 in the US.

Conclusion

Good news for those looking for an affordable electric vehicle with decent range. If Hyundai manages to keep the base price at $30,000 before incentives this car will be a real bargain. Let's just hope they will make it in sufficient volume.
