How to use it?

Federal incentives
The federal government offers an income tax credit of up to $7500 for the purchase of a new electric vehicle. Credit amount depends on the size of the car and its battery pack capacity. To find out specific tax credit amounts for individual vehicles, visit Tax Credits for Electric Vehicles page.
The federal tax credit gradually phases out once a car manufacturer reaches 200000 EVs sold in the US. Tesla and General Motors hit the threshold level in 2018 and their vehicles are currently eligible only for a $3,750 tax credit.

6 states (Alaska, Arkansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Maine, South Carolina) do not offer electric vehicle incentives at all.
44 states have at least one type of EV incentives.
The most common type is the exemption from emissions testing. It is available in 36 states.
The rarest type is the free parking. It is offered only in 6 states.
The most generous purchase EV purchase rebate is offered in Colorado (up to $5,000).
The most electric car friendly state is undoubtedly California with 5 different types of incentives offered.
